My first watch was a Snoopy watch my parents gave me as a kid. That was a fun watch. Snoopy and Peanuts cartoon stuff was big back in the 1970s.
One day I decided to take it apart and see how it worked. I removed the back, took out the tiny screws, popped out the springs and removed the gears. It was great fun pulling out those tiny parts and seeing what made that watch tick.
Of course I couldn’t get the parts back inside once I took them out!
After that, I had a few of the first digital watches. Again, this was the 1970s, so a digital LED watch was the latest and greatest technology.
But I finally got a real watch for my 18th birthday. My father gave me a Rolex Oyster Perpetual. What a beautiful watch! I loved it. I wore that watch for years. I even wore it diving few times.
I still have that Rolex today, but it is no longer running. I do plan to try and refurbish it sometime.
